Don’t you love the part in the movie The Sandlot when Ham shows Smalls what a smore is? I am not one of those people that remembers quotes from movies but I definitely know where “You’re killin’ me Smalls” comes from. I love s’mores, I love The Sandlot, and I love this new combination of s’mores I discovered recently.
A bunch of friends “rafted” down the American River last weekend. This now annual event is really just a river beer float from one part of the river to the next. It has gotten increasingly more classy…year 1 with just a small raft, then to a bigger raft, then to a big raft and small raft to hold our beer and food, then to rafting and camping, and now to rafting and camping with a real campfire and fancy s’mores. I can’t even imagine what’s in store for us next year. Maybe I will even remember my bug spray.
Anyways, while floating, we were discussing what to have for dinner during camping that night and a fellow floater decided to tell us about her latest discovery: s’mores with Reese’s cups instead of Hershey’s. How did I not think of that? I got so excited that when telling the grocery shoppers what to get, I forgot about the real food and went straight to telling them about the s’mores supplies they needed to pick up. They did a wonderful job grocery shopping. And the s’mores were scrumdidliumptious.
- Hey, you want a s’more? – Some more what?
- No, no, you want a s’more?
I haven’t had anything yet, so how can I have some more of nothing?
- Shut up! – You’re killing me, Smalls.
- Okay, pay attention.
First you take the graham.
You stick the chocolate on the graham.
- Then you roast the ‘mallow.
When the ‘mallow’s flaming, you stick it on the chocolate.
- Then…you cover it with the other end.
Kind of messy, but good. Try some.
