Happy Halloween!

Dressing up for events has always been a must in my family. If there is a costume party, the Dunn family is going to dress up and go all out. My dad always has really creative costumes that he comes up with the night before and runs around the house trying to find all the pieces to make it work. I can’t do things that last minute, so I have to start thinking of a costume at least a couple weeks before. First, Jon and I were going to do Grease characters, but then Jon didn’t like that he only got to wear a t-shirt and jeans. Then I remembered my dad’s “Hammer pants” and asked to borrow them. I have vivid memories of my dad running upstairs during dinner and coming back down in his gecko hammer pants to dance for us. When he brought them over, I immediately pictured Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Saved by the Bell so it was then that the costume was decided: Screech and Kelly Kapowski.

I am oh so thankful that hair teasing and high waisted jean shorts are out of style.

Jon’s line of the night was that “Screech finally landed Kelly Kapowski!”

Ke$ha, a Witch, Kelly, and the Ladybug

The Halloween fun is going to continue tonight since I am hosting a potluck for some friends. Here is sneak peek at my cocktail glasses for the party:

If you want to make your own, you just need some electrical tape, scissors, and a good tv show to watch in the background. Trying to cut shapes out of tape is a true test of patience. My patience only lasted for six glasses so the first six to arrive will be the lucky ones!

Frankenstein is my favorite.

Whatever your plans are, I hope you enjoy your Halloween night. And get dressed up why don’t ya? It really is more fun :)

high waisted jean shorts aren’t out of style…I mean they’re more popular now but have been making a come-back for a while. still really cute costume idea.
