I’m back in the kitchen and it feels so good. Cooking is easy without measuring cups and spoons, but baking…not so much. I managed to survive by taste testing many different Swiss chocolate bars.
Which is also why I need to start baking again. But with a healthy twist. I have a wedding dress to fit into soon and just like every other girl in my position, I want to tone up for the occasion. I can’t handle the newest Paleo or Whole30 diets, since I simply don’t have the desire or willpower. But, I have strong beliefs in the power of good ‘ole calorie counting. Then I can still have my desserts and French fries, just in moderation.
After two months of living out of a suitcase, we were ready to get our stuff back. We moved into our “permanent” apartment last week which meant the moving company could finally deliver our things! These things came into our apartment on this really cool lift through our balcony. Did I mention we have a balcony? Well, we do. Two actually. It’s pretty exciting.
Another Christmas season calls for another cupcake Christmas tree! Last year’s tree went over so well in person and on the interwebs that I had to make it again; this time with some new ornaments and garlands. Surprisingly enough, the tree survived transit to my brother’s house for a delicious potluck, with bacon wrapped turkey and all.
I have fond memories of spending Thanksgiving morning in my PJ’s in front of the TV watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now, it usually involves cooking while watching the parade, but nonetheless, the parade is always part of the day. A few years ago, my aunt moved to New York and happens to live near the start of the parade. I visited her for her first Thanksgiving in NYC and was so excited to see the parade in real life. I soon found out that unless you camp out the night before or are seven feet tall, you can’t see diddly squat. [read more]
