I have fond memories of spending Thanksgiving morning in my PJ’s in front of the TV watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now, it usually involves cooking while watching the parade, but nonetheless, the parade is always part of the day. A few years ago, my aunt moved to New York and happens to live near the start of the parade. I visited her for her first Thanksgiving in NYC and was so excited to see the parade in real life. I am starting to feel like a grown-up. I am liking this whole “settled” feeling. I have lived in one place for 3 whole years in a row. I have a community of friends, a regular hair dresser/beautician/acupuncturist, a normal yoga routine, and a great new career. Former spontaneous events have turned into weekly, monthly, or annual affairs. Traditions are being created. Same people, same place, same food, different memories all rolled into one.
The Olympics came and went in a hurry this year and there was hardly any time to do anything but glue myself to the couch for two straight weeks. Now the Olympics are done and my TV shows have yet to start up again, so what in the world am I supposed to do when I get home from work? Luckily, Jenna’s birthday came to the rescue, and there was an excuse to have a party and for me to make something tasty. Since the official games are over, she decided that we needed to have our own Olympics; the Beer Olympics.
